The Dallas Ag Club Scholarship.

     Each scholarship will be for one year.  $500.00 per year will come from the club's treasury.  Additional funds may be donated by club members, with the scholarship increasing in value up to $999.00.  If the amount available becomes more than $500.00 for any year, then two or more scholarships may be awarded.  The Treasurer will provide separate accounting for the scholarship donations.

     The purpose of the Dallas Ag Club Scholarship is to encourage studies in agriculture or areas related to agriculture.

 

Eligibility requirements:

1.     The applicant must be a freshman student entering into an agricultural

        related program.

2.     The applicant must be a resident of Dallas County or any of the counties

        adjacent to Dallas County.  (This includes Collin, Denton, Ellis, Kaufman,

        Rockwall and Tarrant Counties)

 

The application shall consist of:

1.     The information on the attached application blank.

2.     A transcript of the applicant's high school record.

3.     A picture of the applicant - snapshot will be acceptable.

4.     Two letters of recommendation, one of which shall be from a high school

         instructor of the applicant.

Deadline:     Applications must be received by March 15th of the year for which the applicant is applying.  After receiving notification of the acceptance and enrollment of the student, the money shall be paid directly to the school in which the applicant is enrolled.

Publicity:     Notice of the existence of the scholarship shall be given through the county extension office of each county, and in addition attempts will be made to notify any FFA and any 4-H clubs in the counties involved.  E-mail is preferable.

The basis of the award will be a combination of need and scholastic ability to be decided by the committee.

The Scholarship committee:      At present the members of the committee are:   Fred Burrell, Doug Andrews, Mary Jo Matlock, Becky Middleton, Jim Miller, and John Vennetta.

 

Thanks are extended to everyone for making it possible for the club to give two $500 college scholarships at the June meeting.

The scholarship winners were Alyson Stetina  and Courtney Buckholtz . Both will be attending college in the Fall of 2009 and majoring in an agricultural related field.

 

Our 2009 Dallas Agricultural Club Scholarship recipient Alyson Stetina, is from Garland High School in Garland, Texas and will be attending Texas A&M Bryan - College Station in the fall.

 

 Our 2009 Dallas Agricultural Club Scholarship recipient Courtney Buckholtz, is from Cornerstone Academy in Watauga, Texas and will be attending Texas A&M Commerce in the fall .
